The Gustavian style
During his travels to France the Swedish King Gustav III (1775 -1790) discovered the French Louis XVI style which was highest fashion in Europe during middle 1800th century. He took the style to Sweden. and later it was named after him.

The style differed from the more asymmetric and curvy Rococo style. It developed into a more strict and straight style. Later decorative motives like flowers, medallions, columns and grooves where added.
