The
Gustavian style
During his
travels to France the Swedish King Gustav III (1775 -1790) discovered the
French Louis XVI style which was highest fashion in Europe
during middle 1800th century. He took the style to Sweden. and
later it was named after him.

The style differed from
the more asymmetric and curvy Rococo style. It developed into a more
strict and straight style. Later decorative motives like flowers,
medallions, columns and grooves where added.
